Meet the Founder & Creator

Dr. Veronica Allende

HealthWealth was created as a space to explore financial topics relevant to educators and lifelong learners.

As an educator, I've spent my career helping others learn and grow. Yet when it came to money, investing, and financial planning, I often felt like I was navigating unfamiliar territory. Like many people, I assumed these topics were complicated, intimidating, or best left to experts.

That perspective changed after I completed Slay the Stock Market. The course introduced investing concepts in a way that was clear, practical, and easy to understand. More importantly, it helped me realize something unexpected: I was capable of learning and applying information that once felt out of reach.

For the first time, investing and financial literacy clicked. I began to see that managing money wasn't about being a financial expert or having a particular background. It was about learning, asking questions, and building knowledge one step at a time.

The experience also challenged many assumptions I had carried for years. Financial literacy and investing are often presented in ways that can feel inaccessible, particularly for women, people of color, and individuals from modest financial backgrounds. I came to believe that financial knowledge should not be limited to a select group of people. Anyone can learn about money, improve their financial literacy, and make informed decisions about their future.

That realization inspired the creation of HealthWealth.

Today, HealthWealth provides educational content focused on financial literacy, investing, financial wellness, and everyday money topics. My goal is not to provide financial advice, but to encourage curiosity, support learning, and help make financial topics feel more approachable for others who may be starting their own journey.

Why Learn About Money?

If you're an educator, you're used to helping others learn, grow, and prepare for the future. Yet when it comes to money, investing, and financial planning, many of us are left to figure things out on our own.

Maybe you've wondered if investing is too complicated. Maybe you've put off learning about retirement, budgeting, or building wealth because it felt overwhelming or out of reach. I understand that feeling because I've been there too.

HealthWealth was created to be a place where educators can learn about money in a way that feels approachable, relevant, and free of unnecessary jargon. You don't need a finance degree, a particular background, or years of experience to start building your financial knowledge.

Did You Know?

  • Retirement readiness: Many Americans report feeling behind on retirement savings or uncertain about whether they're financially prepared for retirement.

  • Early retirement: Many adults spend years working toward retirement without realizing there are different approaches to financial planning, including the possibility of retiring earlier than traditional retirement age.

  • Teacher retirement planning: Research has found that many educators have limited knowledge of retirement planning despite participating in pension and retirement systems.

  • Women and investing: Women are more likely than men to report lower levels of investing confidence, even though studies show women can be equally effective long-term investors.

  • Student loan debt: Millions of Americans continue to carry student loan debt well into adulthood, making it more difficult to save for retirement, invest, or achieve other long-term financial goals.

  • Financial literacy education: Financial literacy is rarely taught in a comprehensive way, leaving many adults to learn about budgeting, credit, investing, and retirement on their own.

Fortunately, financial literacy is a skill that can be learned and developed over time. Whether you're exploring investing for the first time, thinking about retirement, or simply looking to make more informed financial decisions, HealthWealth is here to support your learning journey.
